Stonington Living Room Addition

This home was originally built in the 1700’s. The scope of the project was to increase the size of the living room by adding a 8’x24′ addition on the back of the house. We used Andersen windows and door, red cedar clapboards, and GAF roof shingles. We installed a Heat n Glo Phoenix vented gas fireplace and built in bookshelves. We built two beams and trimmed the room with custom trim and crown molding.

Child & Family Early Childhood Development Center

see it here....

We were given this awesome framed photo from the staff and kids at Child and Family Early Childhood Development Center in Groton, CT after repairing extensive termite damage to the flooring system. We made repairs, installed a new vinyl plank floor and painted. The challenge was moving the teachers and kids between rooms and still completing the work in under 3 weeks. Thank you to everyone at Child and Family! We love the photo, and it will be hanging in our office!

Longtime residents of Watch Hill build their dream home

Watch-Hill-Dream-Home-webJean Severud can sum up her former Watch Hill home’s appeal in a single word.

“Hideous.”

That’s why when it came time to demolish the 1960s ranch home and build new, the only part of the old home that Severud and her husband Bob saved was the basement.

From the gracious circular gravel drive that leads from the street to the New England shingle style house, to the soaring two-story tall ceiling in one of the home’s first floor hallways, the approximately 4,000 square-foot home that rose from that simple ranch foundation bares no resemblance to its innocuous predecessor. Computerized Carpentry: Yankee Remodeler Brings In Space-Age Wood-Cutting Tool

Space-Aged-Wood-Cutting-Tool-webImagine that you have a computer and a huge wood-cutting tool that can talk to each other.

Imagine that you can draw a picture of something, such as a bookshelf, so precise that you can see a three-dimensional picture of it and the computer can give you exact measurements of every component of the object.

Imagine that the computer can determine how to cut the pieces from a sheet of plywood in a configuration that will minimize waste and… OK, OK, you’re way ahead of us now, so we’ll get to the point. There is such a device, and Yankee Remodeler of New London has one.

“This software can do anything under the sun,” says Mike Mahoney, shop supervisor.
